Working Together for the Benefit of Our Students
At Gjøvikregionen International School, we believe that education is strongest when schools and families work together. The Parent Council plays an important role in building a positive and supportive school community, fostering communication between parents and the school, and contributing to the continued development of GIS.
The Parent Council provides a forum for parents to share ideas, discuss matters of common interest, and support activities that strengthen our school community.
Purpose of the Parent Council
The Parent Council aims to:
- Promote positive cooperation between families and the school.
- Represent the collective interests of parents.
- Support activities that strengthen the school community.
- Encourage parent involvement and engagement.
- Provide feedback and perspectives to the school leadership when appropriate.
Membership
All parents and guardians of students enrolled at GIS are members of the Parent Council.
Each year, parent representatives are elected to help coordinate the work of the council and act as points of contact for the wider parent community.
Meetings
The Parent Council meets regularly throughout the school year to discuss matters relevant to the school community and to plan activities that support students and families.
Meeting dates and information will be communicated directly to families.
Working in Partnership
GIS values open, respectful and constructive communication between the school and families. The Parent Council helps strengthen this partnership and contributes to the welcoming and inclusive culture that makes our school community unique.
Get Involved
We encourage all families to take an active role in our school community. Whether through Parent Council activities, volunteering at school events, or sharing ideas and feedback, your involvement helps enrich the experience of all students at GIS.
